How To Make Better Decisions For Your Health

Absolutely, the decision making process is the bottleneck in health matters, and knowing how to make better use of our own behaviors is the only practical individual solution. Of particular significance, most people are capable of learning to make good decisions, but our reasoning powers falter under conditions of deprivation and distraction, where our cognitive unconscious, habits, and heuristics take over even in the best decision makers. Each of us has to learn to: (1) make good health decisions for when we can reason well, (2) do critical activities like shopping under optimal reasoning conditions, (3) know our automatic habits and heuristics and take advantage of them deliberately, and (4) install better habits where it makes sense.
